The Sacraments Pt. 2 - Baptism

This week we looked at the sacrament of baptism, examining Biblical examples and teachings on baptism. We answered common questions such as, who should be baptized, what does baptism mean, how should we be baptized, and when should we be baptized.

Our prayer is that many people would find Jesus as their savior and Lord in our church, and that many would be baptized into Christ Jesus and His body here.

This week as we pray and meditate let's focus in a slightly different direction. The Bible never mandates that church leaders be the ones who baptize. In fact, Jesus gave a general command to His followers saying "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit." (Matt. 28:18)

All of us are commissioned to share the gospel and baptize those who believe.

Though it is a wonderful thing to be baptized in a church in front of your church family, the responsibility is still on each of us to be messengers of the gospel to those around us. Our plan to evangelize our friends, family, and coworkers should not be to get them to church to get saved, but we should be willing and prepared to share the love of Christ and the hope of the gospel with them wherever we are.

With that in mind let's pray along the following topics.

1. Who would God want me to share the gospel with and invite to church?

2. Am I being obedient with the opportunities the Lord is giving me? And would the Lord have me make any changes to how I am responding to Him?

3. What can I do to be more aware of the Lord's work in those around me and cooperate with Him better?

Please leave your comments and prayer requests below as we come together as a community of faith around these questions. If you need to listen to the message again, you can find it below.
